Giancarlo Stanton’s NY debut? ouch!

Yankees

“NEW YORK — The only thing that would have been worse for New York Yankees fans than shoveling out from five inches of snow on what was supposed to have been Yankee Stadium’s Opening Day, then coming back the next day, bracing against the rain and chill for 3½ hours, and watching slugger Giancarlo Stanton, in his pinstriped debut in the Bronx, strike out five times in five plate appearances.

At one point in the middle innings Tuesday, the Yankees appeared to be heading toward exactly that — and Stanton toward his first back-page spanking in the New York tabloids — until the night, and a good deal of Stanton’s pride, was saved by shortstop Didi Gregorius.” – Washington Post
