Guy Gets Busted For Calling Tech Support!

stolen-laptop-770x472This is something I always thought could happen and it did. Apparently a guy needed tech support on his computer, so he called Apple’s tech support team. They got him all squared away and sent him a thank you email. Sounds good right? The problem is the email was sent to the real owner, Mike Witonishe, who had his computer stolen from him about a year earlier. The email from Apple tipped him off and he was able to alert police.

Witonishe said he contacted the police once he got the email and advised them that the person who called tech support used the serial number on the back of his stolen laptop.

In short, the authorities would later arrest 24-year-old Casey Wentworth from Portsmouth, NH and charged him with burglary. The guy broke into Mike’s house in February of 2013 and stole his laptop.

The police said when the robbery happened they were unable to find any clues or suspects but they contacted Apple who flagged the laptop’s serial number. Thus, if anyone tried to use it, Apple would be able to alert the authorities.

Anyway, Casey Wentworth is scheduled to be arraigned on May 2. Now, talk about being stupid (lol). Why would he contact Apple knowing that the original owner might have contacted them? Anyway, let me know what you think of this smart guy below!
